Blue Car At Capitol Building

There’s no shortage of Classic American cars in Cuba. I liked the way this one was pretty much the same colour as the sky. Add a few palm trees in the background, well, is it any surprise I fell in love with the place?

Cigar & Beret

I was looking in the streets of Habana Vieja for images that exemplified Cuba. This chap with the combination of cigar and beret did the honours, and the palm tree in the background added Caribbean flavour.

Trinidad Train

Cuba was the sixth country in the world to get a railway and this steam travel train proved to be a change from British Rail! The timings are similarly erratic, however the open air carriage was welcomed in the heat

Red Chevrolet & Blue Sky

Many Of Havana’s buildings are without roofs. This old 50’s Chevy was open plan too and I thought they complimented one another well!

Early Morning Chat

The daybreak is just bursting through onto these two gents quietly passing the time of day on the Malecon seafront in Havana

Che Memorial

I visited Santa Clara in Cuba primarily to see this monument of Ernesto Guevara. This mark of sunburst through the clouds made the moment worthwhile, and a somewhat humbling experience. Che’s remains were brought back from Bolivia to be buried beneath this memorial.

The memory and heroics of Che Guevara are honoured by this memorial in Cuba The inside of a backstreet breakfast bar in Cuba

Draughts at Dawn

In the shadows here can be found a group of gents playing draughts. Such cerebral challenge in the early hours of the backstreets of a Havana morning I find commendable

Dreamin’ of a ’58 Chevy

When I was a lad I always used to dream about having a classic car and it seems this young boy is no different. The streets of Havana are awash with these beautiful American dinosaurs and all the better for it

Trinidad Lady

This lady allowed me to take a photograph of her in the outer reaches of Trinidad. Her expression saddens me as I sense she has suffered in her life, I am grateful that she felt at ease in allowing me to witness it

Dawn Stroll

7 o’clock in the morning is a good time to witness life on the streets of Havana. Many are up and about and the light is glorious.

Cigar Streetsellers

Being hustled by jinetero’s is not uncommon in Cuba. I had many whispered offers of cigars from dark places, these guy’s though were quite open about what they had to offer

Backstreet Bar

This backstreet bar is very close to the Capitol building in Habana, and plenty of life goes on and goes by. I appreciated witnessing what I felt was a slice of true Cuban life in the city
